Quick Update

Ok...this goes to show how often I read my own blog to see how it looks.  But it has come to my attention that you can't see a frackin' thing on it because of all the Photobucket crap all over the screen.  So I've gone back and deleted all the posters and pictures from the blog and the majority of those have disappeared.  I've also gone back to Google Adsense because I'd like to see if I can make a few cents (so click on some of those ads please).  Hopefully my blog will be more readable and user friendly now...and of course, not frickin ugly.  OH!  And before I forget, I'm a huge Janet Evanovich/Stephanie Plum fan so when I heard that they were finally making a movie of Miss Plum's first adventure, One For the Money, I was totally stoked.  Now the official trailer has been released and I couldn't be more pleased to see that it is following the book very closely (and the actors, whom I had doubts about - particularly Miss Heigl - are actually fitting my visions of how they would be).  I don't expect the film to appeal to everyone (especially being released in the dead zone that is January), but I am hopeful that it will give some people a few chuckles.  So here is the official trailer for One for the Money:

Duality: Who We Think We Are and Who Other People Think We Are

A few weeks ago, I got to experience something that always manages to shake my confidence in myself.  You see, the chorus I sing in always throws a cast party to celebrate the show and to give us a chance to watch a video of the performance.  Watching the performance is one of my favorite parts of the cast party because when you’re a part of a show it can be very difficult to appreciate the whole.  You can’t see yourself, you can’t see how all the pieces fit together, and you can’t appreciate the finished product in the same way that the audience can.  So it is great to see it all together and to get an idea of what it was like for the live audience.  However, I spend a lot of the viewing watching myself and how I move.  Confession time: I really hate watching myself.  I do not enjoy seeing moves that I thought were very precise and focused turn into vague and sluggish hand gestures on the video.  I don’t love watching my face and being surprised when an expression I thought was movin

Two Gay Men Can't Be Friends...

...the Sex part always gets in the way.  No, I didn't invent this little bit of wisdom...in fact it wasn't even stated originally in a homosexual setting...rather it was an attempt to address the paradox in male/female heterosexual friendships.  The wisdom states that men and women can never be friends because the sex always gets in the way...regardless of how one feels about the other.  A man always wants to sleep with a woman he finds attractive, ultimately dooming the friendship to failure.  And if a man doesn't find a women friend attractive, you can probably assume that she finds him attractive.  A true paradox, though the same can be applied to gay male friends....one or the other is usually attracted to the other and thus the friendship is doomed to awkwardness and failure.  Who invented something that sounded so unPC, you ask?  Screenwriters Nora Ephron and Rob Reiner, that's who.  They attempted to explore this theme in their critically acclaimed film When Harr
